A Casual Win for Michelle

Published on: Nov 14 2018

SDA member Michelle is a single mum and had been employed as a long term casual employee with a national supermarket chain.

Like many single mums, Michelle needed a regular income to provide for her family. Unfortunately, at the time, management were only rostering her for a max of 1-2 shifts a week.

Michelle approached her store manager who was unable to accomodate her request for more regular permanent hours.

Michelle was successful in her search to find another store within the Company that could accomodate her need for more permanent hours however management at her current store were reluctant to let her transfer to another store and did not want to let her leave.

With assistance from the SDA, Michelle was able to transfer to a store which could provide her with enough hours that she can now provide for her family.
